Activated Charcoal Face Wash
About 2 years ago, I had the opportunity to try Beautycounter’s charcoal cleansing bar. Let me tell you, it’s amazing. As in, the best face wash bar I have ever tried.
One bar of it actually lasted me almost 2 years, and I used it every. single. day. In that time, I had significantly fewer breakouts, and more hydrated, healthy skin. I can’t give this soap enough stars.
You can pick up this face wash for $25 a bar (which, it’s totally worth it), OR, you can also make 6 bars of activated charcoal face wash for roughly the same price. And share it with friends.
Either way, they’re both good investments 🙂 If you want to learn how to make the 6 sharing bars, keep reading and I’ll show you how!
Let’s Talk Soap
So, I am fascinated by homemade soaps. They’re beautiful, fragrant, versatile, and contain only what you put into them, which is really appealing to me. They also contain lye, which I am kinda terrified of.
I haven’t quite brought myself to the point of making soap completely from scratch, so this activated charcoal face wash bar is easy in the sense that it is created from an aloe vera soap base, thus, you don’t have to handle lye.
If you’re super ambitious, and you have no fear of lye, here is a charcoal and tea tree oil face wash bar that looks pretty amazing.
Homemade Activated Charcoal Face Wash Bar
The thing I love about this face wash bar is that it’s pretty accessible, meaning, you don’t need to order 15 specialty items off Amazon to make it.
You’ll just need:
Start by cutting up the aloe vera soap base into small cubes, then add them to a medium bowl.
Microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring between each, until melted.
Mix together 2 teaspoons of activated charcoal with 2 tbsp of isopropyl alcohol, stirring until fully combined. Stir well to combine.
Stir in tea tree oil and mix well. Pour into soap mold, filling to the top, and allow to harden for 4 – 8 hours.
Gently remove from mold and wrap in plastic wrap or other airtight packaging!
These make great birthday/shower/party/Christmas gifts!
